The place is seriously big, 2200 square feet. It even has 2 tiny bedrooms that we'll have empty in case someone stays the night or something. The insides are all torn up right now as Alysse's dad completely re-does the kitchen (with granite counters) and completely finishes the basement. Unfortunately the basement is actually going to be rented to another of Alysse's friends so we can't use it to hang out, but at least that means utilities will cost even less (and according to her dad he installed a 95% efficiency heater so our heating bill will be crazy tiny). It's gonna be awesome and I can't wait to move in. I think we're gonna have a housewarming BBQ around August 1st but I'm sure people can hang out there before then too.

It's pretty brutal seeing how close we came to getting Bin Laden at the Battle of Tora Bora but failed due primarily to decisions that, while not necessarily bad decisions, were wrong.

the CIAs SAD and Delta Force knew where he was, they were there and had him cornered and they needed the only avenue of escape closed off, requesting 800 Army Rangers to be placed near the Pakistan border to seal it. Instead of granting that, it was decided to have the Pakistani National Guard close of their side of the border, I assume because they didn't like the idea of a bunch of Rangers that close to Pakistan (Pakistan may view it as a threat). But the Pakistani National Guard, who have worked with Bin Laden in the past, didn't seal the border and allowed him to get away into Pakistan.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In other news, I got a house over in Berkely apparently. I was informed today by Holly that her friend Alysse (who we'll be rooming with) and her dad had purchased a house in Berkely. Apparently it's a "huge" 3 bed 1 bath place almost on 12 mile about a mile off Woodward. Also it supposedly has a Den that could be converted into another bedroom if we wanted to (but it will most likely become a study). It also has a basement, but I don't know if it's finished or not. I do know the basement has a toilet in the middle of it that Alysse's dad plans to build a bathroom around. We hope to move in around July 27th so by then I'll have cash for rent and such.

Speaking of rent, Alysse is awesome. We had previously been looking for an apartment or cheap house round here near 250ish a person and were having a hard time. Alysse really wanted a house and her dad thought it would be a brilliant idea that, since she is starting a 4 year degree at Wayne Med School, to just buy a house here for cheap, have her live there for 4 years, then flip and sell it once she's a doctor. She current makes a lot of money working for some laboratory so she had a much bigger budget for a place than me and Holly, which was frustrating her as our budgets were limiting what we could get. So she and her dad are going to be in charge of the mortgage, her paying like 600/mo on that while me and Holly will pay the taxes on the house, which total are like 375/mo. So between the two of us we're paying less than 200/mo for the place and all 3 of us will split utilities. It's an awesome deal and I'm pretty psyched for it. We'll have 2 fairly large TVs and lots of furniture already so we'll be well set for people to come hang out.
Star Trek was AWESOME. A really great adaptation of the Original Series. All the cast did a really good job of putting a new spin on all the characters so that they weren't just copying the originals. The plot itself was well done and interesting. ILM, of course, did an awesome job with the visuals of the ships and such.

Overall I absolutely recommend this movie to anyone and everyone. They did a really good job of making it not just a movie for Trek fans. There are certainly references that are funny but nowhere near anything that would keep someone who knows nothing about the show from enjoying the shit out of it.

The only thing I'm confused about is how Starfleet apparently crews it's ships with a million 20 year olds and one old Captain to act as parent, and in the case of the Enterprise, they don't even have that, it's a bunch of 20 year olds led by a 20 year old flying in Starfleet's newest and best ship. Also, it's seems kind of unfortunate that Kirk's career advanced so fast that he's 20 and already in a captains position, something you're supposed to strive for to motivate you in the fleet. Where's the career advancement? He gets to now spend like 30 fucking years being captain of the same ship. Boring job. Now I better understand why he seems to go out of his way to pick fights and personally lead away teams during the show, cause he's fucking bored and has nothing better to do.

I don't know if anyone ever watched Flavor of Love 3 or I Love Money 2 (I know I don't which is why I only just discovered this) but for anyone who does, the chick Ice? Yeah, she's in my Spanish class, I talk to her twice a week.
have any of you ever been to http://conservapedia.com/?

It's the most amazing place I've ever seen. The Obama article alone is incredible.

I also recommend checking out a backup of the discussion that took place between the site founder Andy Schlafly and a number of his moderators regarding the legitimacy of Dawkins' title of "Professor". Long story short, despite many moderators presenting him with proof that Dawkins is in fact a professor, Schlafly decides that he didn't actually pass the criteria for the position. Everyone proceeds to tell him that he's clearly just making that up and is refusing to provide proof of his allegation. He then resorts to skewing the subject and calling those disputing him OMG LIBERALS.
